On site Guide- conducts tour of one or several hours at a specific building attraction, or a limited area. The tour may be given on foot or in some sor tof vehicle.
City Guide- points out and comments on the highlights of a city, usually from a motor coach, minibus, or van, but sometimes as part of a walking tour.
Professional tour guide- well experienced tour guide.
Amateur tour guide- new ones
Linguist- speaks two or more languages.
Driver Guide-also called as “city guide”. The tour guide drives while guiding.
Community tour guide-local guide
Staff guide-tour guide who works in a travel agency.
Freelance guide-tour guide who is not connected with travel agency and paid per trip.
Private or personal-common in developing countries, where these services may be available at a reasonable price, they take small number of individuals on their own exclusive tour.
Specialized guide-someone whose expertise or skills are highly unique.

Step on guide-freelance guides or specialist who come abroad motor coaches of tour groups visiting from other regions, to give an informed overview of the city to be toured.

- provides assistance, information, and cultural , historical, and contemporary interpretation topeople on organized tpurs, individual clients, educational establishments, and religious and historical venues of other significant interest.

-any person who leads an organized group of people.

-a tour guide is someone who takes people on sightseeing excursions of limited duration.

According to the tourguiding code of the Philippines, a tourguide is an individual, who, either, as an employee or affiliate of a duly licensed travel and tour agency, guides tourist, both foreign and domestic, for a fee, commission or any lawful form of renumeration.

History of Writing

Cave painting. Stones, rocks and bones are used for drawing.
Cuneiform is the earliest kind of writing where special symbols were used.
Egyptians used hieroglyphics
Papyrus – type of paper made by gluing together layers of reed plants and ink.
Chinese and Japanese use ideas instead of words in represent writing.
Phoenicians were the first to create an alphabet symbols that represent sounds not pictures or ideas.

Where did they write?

Things found in nature like rocks, stones and bones. Early people also carved symbols on wet clay. When the clay dried, the symbols would still be there and they could carry the clay around.
Europeans discovered that the skin of animals could be used to write on called Vellum /Parchment.Italians discovered on inexpensive and quicker way to make paper by breaking down fibers of old cloth.
J.Gutenberg created a movable print made from metal or so called stamp.

What people used to write?

In Egypt, a stylus or thin metal rod was used to mark on papyrus.
Dyes from nature were used to paint symbols. Different plants and flowers made different colors.
People started using sharpened feathers or quills with ink to write on paper.
Pencil that is made of graphite and led at the center.

Domestic Tourism – centered on destinations on a specific country. This is done by residents or none residents not exceeding one year. It involves sight-seeing, visiting friends and relatives, networking and establishing ties and new contacts
Adventure Tourism – going to unexplored places doing unusual activities, eating exotic things, etc.
Cultural Tourism – focuses on the history, language, customs, traditions, art, music, food, way of life of the local area.
Eco Tourism – nature based tourism because it highlights the physical environment on natural beauty while instilling conservation and preservation.
Event Tourism – focuses on special occasions like tournament, seminars, conferences, festivals, gaming, etc.
Factory Tourism – visiting areas of manufacturing or production centers. The assembly, packaging, marketing are features.
Farm Tourism – agri-based or life in a farm. It is in rural areas. There are some urban centers which can duplicate the physical surroundings of a farm.

Tourism is the travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. It is the industry of travel, hotels, transportation that serves the needs and wants of travelers. It is the process, activities, and outcomes arising from the relationships and the interactions among tourists, tourism suppliers, host governments, host communities and surrounding environments that are involved in the attracting and hosting of visitors (Goeldner &Brent Richie, 2006). The officially accepted definition is: “Tourism comprises the activities of persons traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business, and other purposes.
